Cali, February 6th, 2023. The 13th Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup is Colombina’s way of contributing to the nation’s soccer legacy by giving a leg up to its youth. The Cup also stimulates socialization skills and a healthy athletic lifestyle for 7- to 17-year-olds, who can become recognized soccer players, such as Alexis Viera, Natalia Giraldo, Kelly Caicedo – past participants in The Colombina Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup.
"We are very proud to be able to fulfill the dreams of over 23,000 children throughout our nation. And, we are pleased to have Linda Caicedo join our team - a born leader, nationally and internationally recognized. Her goal is to get other boys and girls to follow her example and carry the name of Colombia into the best teams around the world," said Cesar Caicedo, President of Colombina.
The Colombina Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup has become the nation’s largest youth soccer tournament expanding into even more regions around Colombia and bring recreational benefits and sporting advantages to youth in vulnerable communities.
Linda Caicedo, said,
“It is an honor for me to be the Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup’s Ambassador, because initiatives like this one can change the lives of many Colombian young people. Our nation’s youth can use sports and an active lifestyle to make their dreams come true, just like I have. This also fosters team spirit, teamwork and healthy competition”.
The Bon Bon Bum Soccer Cup has six age categories: Sub-8, Sub-10, Sub-12, Sub-14, Sub-16 and Sub-17: Sub-17 is only for women. The tournament is held in three stages – the first is the Departmental Eliminatory Matches that end in June and sets up the finals roster.
The Departments of Valle del Cauca, Bogota, Cundinamarca and Antioquia have historically had greater participation in the tournament. San Andres Island is off in the Gulf Coast near Central America and therefore only has the Sub-14 and Sub 16 categories, who go straight onto the national finals held in La Paila, in the Department of Valle del Cauca.
This year’s winners will take home the Grand Bon Bon Bum 2023 Cup trophy, medals, sporting accessories, such as balls, cleats, cones and uniforms, along with Colombina candy. Special mention is given to the tournament’s MVP, top goal-scorer and best goalie among others.
